Logistics and regatta support for the title sponsor of a week-long yacht regatta.

Event Background

For the second year running, 2011 saw EMG providing event support to the main title sponsor of a British yacht regatta. The week-long regatta, now in its tenth year, was bigger than ever in 2011 meaning that the title sponsor required support in three key areas:

• Logistics for the title sponsor & press
• Event lounge
• Public event village

Event Objectives

As the title sponsor of the regatta, all aspects of the week good or bad, would reflect on EMG’s client, thus it was hugely important that everything was delivered to the highest of standards. The title sponsor was a luxury Italian company, so all support that EMG provided also needed to reflect the quality and Italian style at the heart of the client’s brand.

Event Outline

Logistics for the Title Sponsor & Press
As title sponsors of the event, each year the client host members of the UK and European press. The regatta has become a ‘must see’ in the UK events calendar and as such it was vital for members of the press to experience everything that the event had to offer. In order to make this possible, EMG acted in logistics management capacity and coordinated all of the following services for representatives of the title sponsor and members of the press:

• Travel to the venue
• Accommodation
• Unlimited transfers by both land & sea throughout the regatta
• Hospitality
• Catering
• Spectators’ boats to ensure the best views of the racing

Event Lounge
The event lounge is a luxury competitors’ lounge boasting a multi-lingual classic yachting book collection, large touch screen TV and display of the client’s products. EMG arranged construction, staffing and catering of the lounge. Security staff and lounge hosts/hostesses were immaculately presented professionals who would reflect well on the sponsor and the gourmet catering was designed with an Italian twist.

Public Event Village
New to 2011, the event village required coordination from concept to creation. In partnership with the other event organisers, EMG sourced village sponsors and provided sponsor management services, including branding and stand logistics and design. EMG was responsible for village branding; arranging the design, production, delivery and assembly of flags, banners and other branded goods. EMG also organised all elements of the village bar including sourcing a supplier, managing construction, staffing and selecting the drinks menu.
