EMG was born on the water and has been managing Corporate Regattas and Company Sailing Days for nearly 20 years.
Our competitive Corporate Yacht Regattas and Company Sailing Days are designed to give participants the experience of taking part in a professional sailing regatta but are suitable for all ages, abilities and levels of experience.
The Crew
We race with a skipper and mate on board to ensure closer and more competitive racing with the mate primarily involved with working the bow and spinnakers if they are used. Our skippers all have the highest yacht master qualifications and most of the mates are qualified to a similar level too!
In addition EMG’s crew are selected because they have extensive Solent charter and more importantly, corporate charter experience. Their ability to communicate both professionally and socially with their guests and also understand the nature of the guests ensures we maintain a safe and enjoyable atmosphere on board.
Race Management
EMG uses a dedicated and professional race management team for our regatta events. We have a dedicated and easily identifiable race committee boat (as opposed to a spare yacht) that purely focuses on the racing and results. This ensures racing can be run to exceptionally high standards and provides guests with a true regatta experience.
We also have dedicated safety RIBs as guest safety is paramount plus a dedicated mark laying (also doubles as photographers RIB if required) RIB allowing us to alter the race course quickly should the need arise i.e. tides and weather changes. Traditionally many companies use the existing Solent navigation marks for ‘round the cans’ racing which offers less flexibility and limited race course experience.
EMG endeavour to get guests involved in as many races as possible during the day to create a more realistic regatta experience and as such we run shorter, windward/leeward race courses that encourage close competitive racing between identically matched yachts. The exciting battles for the start line and first mark are often the topic of hot conversation post event!
The Yachts
While there is flexibility over choice of yacht, EMG recommends the Beneteau F40. These matched 40ft racing yachts are ideal for corporate racing as they are fast and responsive but are also forgiving for novice sailors. EMG has optimised a number of these yachts, which we use in our Match racing academy, with asymmetric spinnakers so that they perform better on the race course
