Round the Island Race

The annual J.P. Morgan Asset Management Round the Island Race is a one-day yacht race around the Isle of Wight off the south coast of England. The race regularly attracts over 1,700 boats and around 16,000 sailors, making it one of the largest yacht races in the world and the fourth largest participation sporting event in the UK after the London Marathon and the Great North and South Runs. In 2012 the race falls on the 30th June.

Suggested Round the Island Race Itinerary:

Itineraries for this sailing event are flexible and as always EMG can fit the programme to suit our client’s needs. We always suggest a pre-race training day on the Friday so that everyone becomes familiar with the yacht and each other.

Friday 29th June
Guests arrive at their leisure to the marina to meet the yacht and crew. Race training commences from 13.00 pm. After training the yacht will berth in Cowes yacht haven with guests either remaining onboard or departing for hotels depending on their chosen programme.

Saturday 30th June
Guests are asked to be onboard at least one hour before their start for breakfast. Race start time is dependent on the yacht size and rating. Once the yacht has made it over the finish line, team returns to Cowes Yacht Haven. Guests either stay onboard, leave for the beer tents and bars or leave on the high speed ferry.
